Matric Results 2024/2025 - How to Check
Matric Results 2024/2025 be released on Friday 16 January 2025 following its announcement on Thursday 16 January 2025. While every candidate who sat for NSC exam is expected to see their result, some results may not be available because of technical issues.
To check your result, you require your exam number. We have listed several ways to check your results online for 2024/2025 academic year. If you forget your matric exam number, you can find your number through either your email, letter concerning enrolment, admission notification, personal information on the school's website or the registrar's office at your school. Admission notifications are usually sent to your phone number and email.
How to Check Matric Results 2024 / 2025
Candidates’ results will be available on the DBE website from 6am on 16 January 2025. Matric candidates can check their results in a variety of other ways.
CHECKING YOUR RESULT AT DBE WEBSITE:
- Go to the Department of Basic Education Matric Results Portal – https://www.education.gov.za/MatricResults/ExamResults.aspx
- Enter your ID Number and Matric Examination Number in the required field
- Click on the ‘Search‘ button to access your Matric 2024 Results
- Note: You may need the following to log in: Exam number, Home Language, Your personal details (name, surname, etc.)
- The DBE website is zero-rated, which means it can be accessed whether you have data or not.

Your High School
We begin with the traditional way, You can check your Matric 2024 Results at your High School.
- Just a day after the initial results are released, your school will give you your results (Note: This is not the official matric certificate, it’s just your results for each subject).
- You will be able to obtain your official matric certificate once it has been printed in full.
- If you are eager to get exact dates you should contact your school to find out further information.
How to Check Your Matric Results with ID Number
Follow these steps to access the online Matric Result portal and provide your ID Number to check your NSC Matric Statement;
- Visit the Department of Basic Education Online portal via www.education.gov.za
- Scroll down to the quick links section
- Click on the Examination Results Link
- Select the 2024 Senior Certificate (SC) Exam Results and click on the link
- Enter your examination number
- Click on the search button
- Wait for the system to load and display your statement of result
- Download and print your result
Via Newspaper
Upon results release, Newspaper brands, like The Rapport, The Argus and The Star publish results will make a publication on them. However, these publications barely state whether you passed the exams or not with symbols such as B for Bachelors Pass, D for Diploma, etc.
CHECKING 2024 MATRIC RESULT VIA IEB (Independent Examinations Board):
- Go to the IEB Matric Results 2024 Portal via http://www.ieb-online.co.za/asp/login.aspx
- Enter your Exam Number & Date of Birth in the required field
- Click on the ‘Submit‘ button to access your Matric 2024 / 2025 Results
Bear in mind that website traffic will be high on the release date, so expect delayed response times.
NEWS24 WEBSITE:
- Go to the News24 Matric Results 2024/2025 Portal via https://www.news24.com/news24/matricresults
- Enter your Matric Examination Number in the required field
- Select your exam type, either NSC or IEB.
- Click on the ‘Search‘ button to access your Matric 2024 Results
- Note: You may also search NSC Result by province on the News24 website.
Using MatricsMate App
MatricMate app allows its users to access their results as soon as they are released. There are versions for both Android and apple named MatricsMate and MatricsMate2 respectively. Here is how to use this media:
- Download the MatricsMate app from the Google Play Store or Apple Play Store as the case may be.
- Enter your 13 digit ID number and examination number.
- You will then be able to view the matric results as soon as they are available.
Gauteng Matric Results Online
Here is another way. There is also the app, GPG Matric App which allows results access as soon as results are released.

Check Matric Results through SMS and USSD
Thanks to SABC Education and the Department of Basic Education, there is a secure way to check results through SMS and USSD. To use this service, that is have your results sent to you when released, you must register.
Here is how to Register via SMS
- Send your examination number to 45856
- After sending your exam number, an SMS confirmation that you will receive matric results immediately when they are released will be sent to you.
SMS Service will be charged at a cost of R1.50 and free SMS don’t apply
To use the USSD service,
- Dial *120*45856# and enter your exam number to register.
The USSD service will be charged R1.50 per minute.
- Your exam results will then be sent to your phone once they are available.
Though Phone Call
There is a reason why this option comes last, there are many people who may be trying to call this number. You may never really tell, maybe you can be lucky.
- Dial 082 152 for your results.
IMPORTANT – Matric Results 2024/2025 Release Dates
Matric Re-marking and Re-checking
Congratulations to those who passed their matric examinations. If after checking your result, you feel you were not scored correctly, you may apply for rechecking and remarking. Fees for re-marking and re-checking per subject:
Re-mark : R116.00
Re-check : R29.00
Viewing of scripts may only be done after a re-mark or re-check of results. The closing date for applications is 7 days after release of re-mark or re-check results. The fee for viewing is R220.00
