The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) online application is expected to open for 2025 in September 2024. While the Minister, Dr Nobuhle Nkabane, explained that NSFAS applications should open in September, the specific dates are to be announced.

Dr. Nkabane said in the DHET budget vote:

We are working overtime to ensure that NSFAS systems are ready for the commencement of the 2025 application season, which is scheduled to start in September this year.

The Scheme encouraged the public that by December funding decisions should have been made to enable students start the 2025 academic year without funding issues. With the next application cycle approaching, students can expect improved and more efficient systems designed to support their academics.
